Who We Serve

Who We Serve

MLP serves the patients and patient families of its healthcare partners:

  • Harborview Medical Center – MLP attorneys provide civil legal advice and representation to low income clients who have been referred by a member of their health care team.  MLP assists patients whose unmet legal needs are impacting their health.  Emphasis is on keeping patients connected to supportive services and housing
  • Seattle Children’s Hospital and Odessa Brown Children’s Clinic– – MLP attorneys provide civil legal advice and representation to pediatric patients and their families who have been referred by a member of their health care team.  MLP attorneys help with issues such as safe housing, medical needs, access to benefits, and education rights.

Direct Legal Assistance

Since its inception, Washington MLP has helped thousands of families and individuals with legal intervention. MLP assists with housing, public benefits, education, immigration, consumer protection, family law and more. Depending on the case, MLP attorneys offer advice and counsel all the way to direct representation.

MLP cannot accept self-referrals. MLP only has the capacity to accept cases that have been referred directly by a provider, social worker, or other member of the health care team.

What if I am not a patient at Harborview, Odessa Brown Children’s Clinic or Seattle Children’s?

If you have a legal need that you believe is impacting your health and are not a patient of one of MLP’s healthcare partners, here are some resources in Washington state:

Benefits Law Center – Benefits Law Center helps with Social Security disability problems by providing legal advocacy to people living with physical and mental disabilities.

CLEAR (Coordinated Legal Education, Advice and Referral) Line is a toll-free legal hotline for people with low incomes.

County Bar Associations in Washington State that offer lawyer referral services:

King County Bar Association’s Neighborhood Legal Clinics – the Neighborhood Legal Clinics program offers free, limited legal advice and referrals to King County residents and Washington State residents with legal issues in King County who might otherwise have no access to the legal system.
